Mechanical Services & Maintenance
If you are interested in learning more about how to work on your bicycle you have come to the right place. In this section we will walk you thru some of the basic adjustments that you will be able to accomplish with minimal tools. Our aim is to help you understand how your bicycle works so you can keep it running in top shape for years to come.
We will start off with a step-by-step guide through the build process of a new bicycle built here at Fit Werx. We spare no expense, time or tools to give you the most consistently adjusted and smoothest running bicycle possible. The time we spend making sure that the frame is aligned and prepared properly pays off in greater precision and better wear of all parts involved.
We will also include a small guide to the most common tools that you will need to make the basic adjustments included in our guide. Tools that are used for cleaning and lubrication will also be included as this is the most important aspect of bicycle maintenance.
Maintenance matters. It’s more important than weight or aerodynamics. A bike with a broken chain will not ride well even if it is 13lbs. Proper maintenence can be the difference between a bicycle that lives a long and happy life and one that dies young, between winning a race or walking home. And for the most part, bicycle maintenance is the same for everyone, whether you’re Lance Armstrong or just an average Joe. In other words, it is worth knowing about.
Please enjoy the articles below and remember, cycling is fun, and working on your bicycle should be too. If you are not mechanically inclined, don’t despair, we are here to help.
