Athlete Feedback on Metabolic Testing from Intelligent Fitness

"Working with Joey Adams had a very positive effect on my training. The opportunity presented itself through Fit Werx and I happily took advantage of it. Joey's metabolic testing allowed me to fine tune my training program by assessing and interpreting my cardio results and VO2 max. With limited time available to me as a female athlete ( full time job, home, mother, and wife ) the value of targeting time spent training and yielding the "most bang for my buck" was priceless. The data quickly assessed that I was overtraining my fast twitch muscles and needed to focus more on aerobic base and the efficiency of the slow twitch muscle groups. In addition, tweaking my HR zones moved me away from the dreaded "grey" zone where little benefits were reaped from my efforts. Coupled with an excellent Coach, Seth Hosmer, the metabolic test results allowed me to benefit from a better understanding of conditioning and the advantage a personal assessment provides. "My experience with Joey's testing is that the process is relatively quick (about an hour) and painless, but informative.  He understood my level of fitness by looking at the test data, and he explained it to me in Layman's terms, and I understood his interpretation.  In my case, he gave me practical advice in terms of the intensity level for my training so that I could use my training time more efficiently.  Simply put, I was training for enough hours, but I was able to benefit from training at a different (lower) intensity level and bringing that intensity level up only near events.  We discussed my season's goals and how different goals for me -- hill climb bike races, combined with an early season marathon could be combined into a training program.  The most useful advice related to nutrition -- before and during events, and the intensity level.  He was able to guide me into an appropriate intensity to turn in marathon results with a sub 8:15 mile pace, and to improve on my results at the Whiteface Hill Climb a month later on my bike!  Thanks to his guidance, I trained for less time (due to work commitments) and had better results this year."
