Kona - I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I competed in the Ironman Hawaii and our bikes performed well.  I competed in the 55 to 59 age group and Lori competed in the 50 to 55.  I did an 11:32 - that placed me 12th in the age group.  Lori did a 12:43 and placed 17th in her age group.  We were both VERY pleased with the "fitting" you did to our bikes.  Rich, PA

Race Horse - I did the Wrentham Du and rode the (new) Guru...anyway, the thing is a race horse!!!...   I think I am going to really like that bike... Thanks for the fitting!!  John, MA

More Footbeds - Thanks so much for your help. I think I am more powerful and efficient with the footbeds. I did the same ride as last week yesterday with the new footbeds (112 mile ride). I did the first 56 in 2:38 avg speed 21 mph with HR avg 130. This was 7 minutes faster than last week at the same HR!!!! 100 mile split was 4:57 and last weeks was 5:13!!!! 16 min faster at same HR avg!!! I soft pedaled the last 12,  but still rode 14-15 min faster than last week.  Thanks again.    John, VT

No Regrets -The new bike (IF Crown Jewel SE) is fantastic and the season has been a success… The neck and shoulder pain that I had with my old bike has disappeared completely with the position you developed for me.  I now finish long rides tired but with no pain whatsoever.  I absolutely love the footbeds and the confidence they give me knowing that my alignment is being corrected.  I am actually glad that the local bike shops are inept when it comes to fitting a bike and developing a sound position because it led me to your shop.  I have absolutely no regrets about my decision to travel to Vermont  to work with Fit Werx.  I have two century rides left on this year's calendar and I am looking forward to next season's transition to Doubles and 12-hour TT's.  I hope to come back to Fit Werx to develop a more precise aero position as my riding progresses and my body develops.  In the meantime I will continue spreading the word about your skill as a bike fitter and ability to produce the footbeds that I think every rider needs.  Thanks again, Glen.

Smooth - Just wanted you to know I am very very happy with the new bike ( Legend ST ). The comfort level is amazing. I simply cannot believe how it absorbs my weight against the bumps and cracks in the road… the day after I saw you guys I did my 12 mile time trial :45 sec faster than ever before.  Played hooky yesterday (first time in 13 years) to take it out for 34 miles.  I rode through the forest roads near our house which are loaded with cracks and frost heaves. I am simply amazed at how smooth this bike is... you guys are clearly the best at what you do and I am ecstatic with the new bike. Thanks for eveything and I'll be posting a similar report for our team to read this week.  M ark, MA

Easier - I rode close to 50 miles on Saturday in the islands and another 35 today from Waterbury to Williston - with a headwind on the way back of course.  The changes you made are terrific - particularly the change in positioning of the handlebars.  I picked up an average of 1.2 miles per hour with a little less effort and with much less fatigue between my shoulder blades… thanks for your help with getting the bike to fit more comfortable and efficiently.  It really was impressive to see how much difference the adjustments made.   Phyllis, VT

True Love - I went for a 4.5h ride this morning with Rick!  I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE MY (New) BIKE (Serotta Concours Tri)!   I did not want to get off it!  And I think it is so beautiful!   Thanks a lot!   Andrea, MA

Worthwhile - I wanted to thank you for your time and effort on the bike-fit.  I definitely felt the benefit of it and am very pleased I made the decision to visit Fit Werx.  Thanks again.  Cheers,  Scott, MA

Saddle Fit - I was in this spring and have been extremely happy with my bike fit. I am now riding without any saddle issues at all. I would recommend a good fit to anyone who have problems like mine. I am now completely comfortable...  Thanks for everything. My fit has made me a happy biker again!   Jim, VT

Hill Climbing - I just wanted to give you a report on the Ascutney Hillclimb on Saturday... I smashed my previous time by almost 4 minutes up the hill and placed 13th overall.  The bike has felt great since the fit over the winter and it was definitley dialed in perfectly for me.  I never felt uncomfortable during any of my hill training (and there as a lot of it) and it obviously paid off.  You continue to do great work!   Thanks again, Bill, CT

Road? TT? Both. - Thanks a million for the fit…  The fit turned out to be a great success. I find myself spending 90% of the time in my aero bars. The other 10% (out of bars) is on hill climbs (e.g. going over Killington). I'm able to stay in the bars on gradual climbs with no problem as of before I would have to get out of the aero position. It’s amazing the difference. I really didn’t think that this TT bike would feel this good compared to my road bike.  Sad to say now it is a toss up on which bike I ride.  I’m going to take your advice and ride the TT bike a couple times a week and the other a couple times to mix things up. As we know they both have their purposes. Thanks again.  Ryan, VT

Top 15% - The thing you guys might be interested in is that I was 37th of 290 off the bike.  You guys did an awesome job setting me up.  The new aero bars felt great, that Arione saddle is awesome and the new position works.  I didn't have any lower back tension like I did in my earlier races.  The bike felt like it was on rails and didn't wobble or feel unsteady at that speed.  I averaged 21 mph which could be better, but was respectable given the splits of the guys who finished ahead of me.   All in all, I feel pretty good about it considering I drive a desk and have two little kids...   Thanks again for an awesome ride!!  Also, my (Elite Razor) was by far the most beautiful bike in transition…  Chris, NY

More Power - Thanks for everything, it was a good experience.   I love my new fiting, so much more power...  the hills seem much smaller and less work now!  Pascale, NY

Worth the Day Off - Thank you so much for all of your expertise and assistance last Thursday. My appointment at Fit Werx was one of the best (and most worthwhile) “vacation days” that I have taken... For all of your help and kindness, I remain.  Martha, VT

Legend = Love -  I love my (new) bike ( Legend ST ).  My son and I did an organized "Trek Across Maine", about 60 mi /day. The bike was so comfortable. Paul, M E

Just More Fun -   On my first ride (on my Guru Cron'Alu) I immediately noticed the bike’s quickness.  Quick was not even a word I would have thought to use to describe a bike, but that was how it felt right out of the gate.  Another surprise is its comfort.  Long rides are easy.  No more numb body parts.  I can stay on the aero bars much longer, almost as long as I want.  Riding is now much more fun than it was on the old Cannondale.  In Sunday’s triathlon through hilly Ashland and Hopkinton Mass. the bike leg was the strongest of the three (highest overall finish position for the leg).  That’s a first for me...  The Guru has many attributes which make it superior to my old machine, but its quickness, comfort and resultant speed stand out the most.  Thanks for your good work.  My summer will be more fun because of it.  Cheers, Tom, MA

Knowledge and Service - Thank you so much for your help yesterday.  I'm impressed with your extremely knowledgeable and professional service... Have a great summer.   Martin, MA

Century Ride - I’ve been so so happy with my bike. I’d say working with you has been one of the best consumer experiences I’ve had.  The true testimonial comes from some of the long rides I’ve been on with Rob... We ride along with some other folks and at the end of 100 miles, everyone else is rubbing their neck and shoulders while we just keep going in relative comfort. : )  Elizabeth, MA

More Comfort - The new bike and fit are wonderful! I did my first century ride of the season in Lake Placid this past weekend. I can tell the new bike is going to work out very well for me...I was able to get up hills faster than I used to be able to and the hills didn't seem as hard, I didn't have any knee or neck pain the entire ride, and I felt like I had more control of the bike on the downhills. It'll be interesting to see how much better I'm able to do this year at IMUSA.  Train Safe, Cindi

Coach's Review and Comparison to Other Fittings - "What is a good bike fit worth to you? This is a question that I hear a lot and see more on discussion forums and I have had my opinions about them in the past but I am here to tell you that it is worth a lot. I spent last Wednesday up in Waitsfield Vermont at Fit Werx with Ian and Sarah getting the fit that I wish I had gotten a long time ago.... First, a little history on my experiences with bike fits. I started out with the first fit at..." Click here for a link to Jeff's comprehensive review and comparison to other fittings/shops on the 511 Endurance site.

Hot Guru - I had a great ride on my new Guru Saturday (52 miles)... Love the bike and it looks awesome. Larry , MA

CXII Recommendation - I've been training all spring on my Serotta CXII that you recommended. I liked the bike after the first ride but did not appreciate it fully until the Mooseman race this past weekend. This was the first 1/2 Iron where I wasn't dying to get off the bike after 56 miles. I finished relaxed, comfortable and ready for the run - this is a big boost of confidence for Lake Placid IM.   Thanks for the recommendation and fit. John, MA

Psychological Boost - Thanks so much.  Went out for a 30-mile ride last night and everything felt great.  My back definitely feels like it's in a more comfortable position and it doesn't seem to be stressing my hamstrings too much either.  You're right-- being further out over the handlebars does make the steering a little squirrelly at first, but it's nothing I can't get used to.  Thanks again for all the individual attention, I feel great now about the upcoming season.  John, MA

Another Great CXII Experience - Just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE my new CX II.  I can't believe how much easier the hills are around here.  I just have to learn to keep my upper body still!  Seriously, the first hour of riding on the new bike, I was very nervous, and felt a little wary.  After that, I've been really comfortable, and have enjoyed every minute.  I'm like a big kid -- with a grin from ear to ear.  I'm very glad I worked with you, and believe you guys are the best in the business.  I look forward to seeing you out on the road!  Ly nn, NH

Unique Buying Experience - Just wanted to say thanks for the great bike buying experience.  That was the least stressful big ticket item I have ever purchased and it was all due to how you handled everything.  I never felt like I was being "sold" anything, you make it very easy to tap into your enormous wealth of bike knowledge.  I usually leave after purchasing large items questioning weather I made the right choices and I never did that with this bike, and I think a big part of that is I felt like you provided me with all the information I needed and then some.  I threw the CXII on the rollers this morning and it feels great... Way different than my road bike... and even in the few minutes I was on the rollers I could feel different muscles being used with the new geometry... Anyway just wanted to say thanks again and after dealing with you I don't think I would want to buy a bike (or fit an old bike) anywhere else.  I'll see you at the Tinman... look for the fastest bike split... ok maybe not fastest... top 10?? (bike split... bottom 10 on the swim split).  Matt, NY

Enjoying Part of Training - I LOVE my bike!!  I'm still learning but loving the process!  Of the three disciplines for the tri's finally there is one that is some fun to train for.  Naturally, I wish I could get out more but I take what I can get when I can get it.  Thank you again for all your expertise--it really made a tremendous difference.  Take care,  Beth, MA

Ottrott ST Worth It? Yes. - The first ride on the new "nameless" beast was incredible.  Stiff but decidedly smooth (real smooth).  Bottom bracket stiffness is bomber...even superior to my TCR!  The position is sooooo comfy.  I was feeling pretty stiff after the car ride home, so I decided to go for a quick spin.  1.5hrs later I didn't want to get off.  I think I like the saddle, but it may take a few rides to get a real appreciation of the comfort level (my Brooks was sad..it cried while I was out).  The Ottrott really climbs well.  Some of the perceived reduced effort may be position and comfort.  I cannot say enough about the position.  I really felt alot of power when climbing.  It was really a kick.  I think I've always compensated for a low head tube by lowering my saddle slightly.  I always get "spring knee" or chondromalacia as we call it.  I think those days are over.  I am so glad I heard about your fitting service and followed through with the whole operation.  I will give you a 7 day update, but thumbs-up so far.  I think I experienced the same ride Ben Serotta had in France today.  It was like being a little kid again!   Cheers, "C4," NH

Fit 101 - I really enjoyed our time together and learned a great deal.   The bike feels great.  I have gone out a couple times for 30 milers and really feel more comfortable.  And, the new speedplay pedals are another nice improvement—more of a stable feel and more power. Jon, MA

Top Athlete and PT Explains the Fit Werx Differences - I have worked with a half-dozen different bike-fitting people through the years, both personally and professionally (as a PT).  Fit Werx rented space from the PT clinic that I ran for 2 years (I have since moved on to another clinic), which gave me excellent viewpoints from which to watch them work with many athletes of varying abilities, including my fiancee.

Watching how they worked with other people finally enticed me to work with them personally.  I went to see them up in VT, and got fit prior to ordering a new bike.  While on the size cycle, I found myself thinking that this was pretty close to how I felt on the bike I had been riding to that point... quite comfortable.  The following day I got back on my (old) bike and thought to myself, "Jeez, am I stretched out on this thing."  I have not been more happy with a bike since getting my new one from Fit Werx.

Many of the bike fitters that I have seen and worked with look at various data points, mainly what the angles of your knee and hip are while sitting on your bike.  Ian and Sarah work a little differently, and from a PT standpoint, much better.  First they measure you and then they measure you on your bike.  They look at your flexibility, your reach, etc, prior to even putting you on the size cycle.  What it feels like is that they fit you to your bike as much as they fit your bike to you.  And they do a good job explaining why they recommend any changes that might be prudent.

As for working with other shops, there are some good ones.  However, with regards to bike fitting, I don't think that they have nearly the depth of experience that Ian and Sarah have.  My fiancee came away from her fit at another shop having her bike fit... but not fitting her bike.  A subtle difference, but also the difference between being thrilled with her ride, and not liking her ride.  Taking the same bike to Fit Werx, she came away liking her ride, though not thrilled with it (the bike's geometry isn't quite right for the geometry of her body... something most shops, again, don't take into account).…I don't think you will find anyone with more knowledge and more experience than Ian.  If you're looking to get fit for your bike, go anywhere.  If you're looking for your bike to fit you, go see Fit Werx.
Chris, MA

Just the Basics - I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. My new fit is fantastic! I spent an hour on the trainer Saturday after I got home and actually enjoyed it.  Big Thanks, M ike, VT

Improved Technique - The fit is great.  I was in the drops for about 20 minutes straight with no discomfort. No way I could do that before.  I hardly moved in the saddle at all.  I had no need nor desire.  I hadn't realized that I had been pointing my toes down on the down stroke.   I don't know when I started doing that or why, but now I don't do it.   In fact, when I tried to point my toe down it was difficult to maintain.   The difference in the pedal stoke was very noticeable.   Much "cleaner" stroke.  Also, climbing out of the saddle, my stroke felt shorter if that makes any sense.  It definitely felt like I had better down force climbing and the computer (Hac 4) indicated that the power was greater than usual on the climbs, but I didn't push any gears to really test it.   It felt great. I'm very pleased. Bruce, MA

CPR - I went for a ride yesterday, 11/18/04 , with a group of speed demons.  I was a bit anxious about the ride, all aspects of it, the people, the terrain and the distance.  I'd ridden by myself and with a friend who rides slower than I do and found the fitting to be great at lower speeds. I'd made this ride before the fitting and I absolutely died!  I couldn't wait to get off the bike.  The ride yesterday was fantastic!  There were four of us and we flew.  The last third of the ride is mostly uphill, climbing, which killed me the last time out.  Not so this time! I hadn't realized just how good the fitting was...It's fantastic...thanks again! Mike , NY

Custom IF Difference - Thanks for your help in selling my (old) frame.  The new IF is great - what a difference a real custom fit makes.  Its a real stiff frame, but I think the vibration damping is actually better than on my carbon bike.  Thanks for a great job.  Jim, NY

Improved Times - The Serotta seemed to become more comfortable and responsive with each mile I put on it. I'm looking forward to seasoning it with more miles (like fine wine, it gets better with each ride). In the future, I would love to do the performance and digital aero-dynamic analysis that you offer. My bike times improved this year and I was pleased with the comfort of the aero position. However, I know there is always room for improvement. I often had people approach me about my bike and I didn't hesitate to tell them about Fit Werx and the excellent service that you provide. Lindee, PA

Connected - I have to say that I just love my bike!  I haven't done any long rides yet, but have been focusing on gaining comfort with getting into and out of my pedals and aero bars, etc.  Sarah's tip of going into partial aero on either side to work up to full aero was really helpful.  I've already been riding in full aero, although I'm not yet ready to move the arm rest pads in yet.  As I've been getting to know my new ride, I can't help but to compare the process to that of first getting to know my car (also a TT).  Both are elegant, aerodynamically efficient machines with all wheel drive (Quattro on the car--duo on the bike) and turbo engines that kick in at the appropriate shift of the gears.  Both like to go fast, and want to go fast--reins pulled in only by the driver until she's ready to meet their potential.  When I drive my TT I feel totally connected with her, and that we are a unit on the road.  The same is true of my Serotta--when I click into the pedals we become a unit, ready to work the road.  The difference here, though, is that she was fit and made to order, so that she literally becomes an extension of my own body.  This is the most amazing sensation!  I look forward to realizing the full potential of how we can handle the road together! Thank you, Ian and Sarah, for your expertise.  It has been a pleasure doing business with you, and the experience has exceeded my best expectations.  I will definitely continue to be in touch, and will not hesitate to ask any questions that may arise. Deborah, MA

Feet Woke Up - This past weekend I went out for a 40 miler.  The bike felt great.  No problems with feet falling to sleep.  B renda, NJ

A Dream - I was fortunate to enjoy some spectacular weather and got out for several wonderful rides. The new bike was just fantastic; a dream to ride. The bike made the rides just outstanding and a lot more fun for me. Importantly, it filled me with more confidence in riding (more challenging) terrain. Thank you very much for your time and assistance  in helping me. Larry, N J

Concours CS Works - The new bike is awesome.  I have never been more comfortable and I have noticeably more power! Nabil, NH

No Excuses - Thanks for the info. I’ve been meaning to drop you a line or stop by to give you a huge thank you for the fitting. You seem to have solved my back pain! That’s the good news. The bad news is that I no longer have an excuse to stop after 40 miles.   I will be back in the not-too-distant future to finish the tweaking of my bike. And I can assure you that my next bike will originate from your fine shop.   Thanks again. Michael

Using all the Muscles - I want to commend you and Sarah on a really great experience.  I have been on several rides since my fit and notice a significant difference in comfort and effort level.  I am also feeling my hamstrings and glutes, which tells me I'm using muscles in a way I never have before.  I take this to be a good thing.  I will definitely be in touch and hope someday to be back for a nice fitting Serotta. Steve, VT

Ironman Difference - We just finished IM Austria last month, and man-oh-man, what a difference a fit makes!!! The bike course is 3 loops with a major hill in each loop that comes around 20 miles into the 37 mile loop... from that point to the end of the loop is mostly downhill, with some really fast sections (not steep fast, but where you can get in your highest gear and fly fast) anyway, as I was finishing, it hit me that I was still in the aerobars, and very comfortably in the aerobars!! no one else I was seeing was still in the aerobars on the last loop! but I was still comfortable...  Then I got off the bike, and after changing started to 'run' - and my legs were great!! (my stomach however was not, but that isn't the fit!) I couldn't believe it, my legs did not feel like rubber, or lead, they just worked! and Bill had the same experience!!! we know that the bike fit is the reason, cuz we have done 6 and 8 other IMs respectively without feeling like that!! If you need someone to 'advertise' for you, let us know, we believe!!! ;-) Cathy & Bill, NY

Good Decisions - I just wanted to finally thank you and let you know how much I LOVE my Serotta!  Thank you so much for putting together the prefect bike for me.  The fit is just right, and it feels so good to be on my bike.  I really feel stronger on this bike.  It feels like I get more power out of my legs.  Ian, you were right when you said I’d love the aerobar position…  I do!  It is so comfortable. To top it all off, I placed 3rd in my division at Musselman ½ Ironman.  It was only my fourth triathlon and it felt great!  I was strong on the bike and was able to finish with a great run too!  Thanks again for your help with picking out the right bike for me and for making the fit just right! Le slie, MA

Best Run Ever - I wanted to let you know that I raced for the first time on my new bike set up and really noticed a difference. I am able to spend more time in the aero position and the real difference was in the bike run transition. I had the best off bike run ever! So thanks again for making me more comfortable and quicker!   Kristy, MA

More Relaxed and Powerful - I  have been very pleased with the position you have set me up in on my bike. I am able to stay on the aero bars much longer and feel I can relax my upper body while racing. The position feels more powerful. My bike splits are faster this year and I'm running well in the bike/run transition in the sprint triathlons I have done this Spring. Training for the Tupper Lake 1/2 Ironman the end of this month with a focus on the Lake Placid Ironman at the end of July.  Again, thanks for your good work and expertise.    Mike, VT

Skeptical - Rode 130 on Saturday. I am thrilled with the new position. I am absolutely converted to the value of a good fitting!   I have to be honest, I was a bit skeptical about it beforehand mainly because over the years I feel like I have moved everything around to every possible position. To suddenly feel smoother and more powerful was quite honestly a shock. A pretty fantastic shock! All the best and thanks again. Cecil, NY

Moved up 400 Places - I just wanted to share the good news.  After a rough swim Saturday AM (goggles got swiped off during the (aqua-combat) I got onto the bike determined to make up some time.  One nice thing about having a poor swim is that it provided plenty of people for me to chase.  Well chase I did - I passed so many people and ended up averaging 21.1 mph for a 21 minute improvement from my bike performance last year.  I finished up with a somewhat solid run and placed 196th out of the 700 finishers.  A significant improvement from my 618 out of 856 last year! I enjoyed the bike ride so much and I have the two of you to thank.  I appreciate the good work you did - it makes such a difference! Chris, VT

Smoothing the Ride with a Custom - I had a wonderful and comfortable bike ride at Tin Man. I mean, I felt great on that bike! I love it! You guys are pros…  During the bike leg, I commented to a fellow as to how beautiful the bike course was, he said, "Yes, but a little rough." I said that I didn't feel the bumps! Schatzi, NY

Building Miles - A belated thanks from a happy customer. The Serotta and I are bonding on the road and making me want to spend more time on the bike and less time at the office so  buying the Serotta was a success.  From day 1, the bike has been great with no aches even though this almost 60 year old body has ridden very little in the past. I am building up slowly with 20-30 mile rides for first month and will add 5-10 miles this month. Jerry, VT
